New Videos Online
August 21, 2008
So we filmed most of the shows at Territorial and Saginaw Vineyards this last week and have uploaded them to both our site here and youtube. This is pretty much the first time we’ve filmed anything in over a year and there’s a learning curve that I’m doing my best to climb, both in getting decent audio as well as the picture quality. We’ll keep filming and working on getting both of those elements improved (the background crowd noise, wind on the mic, etc. are the biggest issues right now). Still, it’s pretty fun and we’re really wanting to get some good footage of the White Album Stealing the Covers show next month.
To see the videos click the video button at the top of this page. You can also view the videos on youtube of course. Please also add some comments to either youtube or to our website if your so inclined, we loving hearing from you.
Here’s something cool btw that I learned the other day. When watching youtube it adds a lot of compression to the videos to make them download faster. If you have a fast connection though, this just degrades the image quality for no reason. There is a way to view them at at a higher quality though:
Normally the youtube url looks like the one below which gives you low resolution 320×240 videos.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ABCDE
Simply add &fmt=6 onto the end of url
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ABCDE&fmt=6
Now you should see high resolution videos. If no change is observed, then it means the video has not been converted to the higher resolution yet. View the video in full screen mode to see the difference.
If you add &fmt=18 to the end of url.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ABCDE&fmt=18
Now it will play the high-resolution 480×360 MP4 high-bandwidth videos with higher quality audio when available, otherwise it will play the regular version. Give it a try.

Promotional Posters
April 10, 2008
It seems a lot of people like the posters we make to promote our shows. A few months ago we started branding them to look like the album we were covering in the second set (Tracy Chapman, The Police, etc), and it became some kind of a ‘thing’. So now people wonder, when they wonder about such things, not only about the album we’ll play that month, but what the poster will look like. As artists, and avid wonderers ourselves, this is cool and allows us to visually play with some of the musical elements sans the music, while providing others with something they are seeming to like.
We’ve decided to put the posters up on our site here so they can be downloaded and printed in all their wonder. It’s my personal hope (and further hope that Jackie agrees) that the posters will be used for something more creative and innovative than just hanging on a wall (unless the wall happens to itself be unique in some way). If you choose to download and print a poster and end up using it for something other than hanging (e.g. insulation in your home, a giant Jackie and Jason paper airplane, origami, a paper hat, etc.) please email us a photo of how it was used. In the case of the J&J Paper Airplane I’d prefer an in-flight photo, but it’s not required of course. You can also email us a photo of you holding the poster or poster-creation (especially if it’s a wearable creation like a hat) and we might just take a photo of us holding the photo of you with the poster just for the fun of it and put it on our non-yet-needed-or-existing UPU (Unique Poster Usage: acronym pronounced yoo-poo) page. We can be emailed at booking at jackieandjason.com.
The posters can all be found on the Free Stuff page, and will be continued to be updated.
New Free Stuff
April 1, 2008
We’ve added a few full length songs samples to the Free Stuff page. We’ll keep adding stuff here, so check back often. We’re thinking of offering full-size versions of our posters each month for download from this page as well; Feel free to add a comment to this post if there is interest in us doing that, or any other feedback you may have. Thanks!
Jackie & Jason “Stealing The Covers”
March 1, 2008
“Stealing The Covers” is a concept originated by Jason’s aunt, Susan Cowsill, and the Susan Cowsill Band, for their monthly performance at Carrollton Station in New Orleans. They called it “Covered In Vinyl”. Now, Jackie & Jason are proud to be carrying the concept to the Northwest as “Stealing The Covers”.
Each month their second set features their interpretation of an entire album, first song to last (reminiscent of the days when music was published on vinyl LP’s and people listened to all the songs in order). Along with the challenge of learning 11-13 new songs each month and translating them into an arrangement for two voices and a guitar, they also produce a promotional poster featuring their “interpretation” of the original album cover art.
Some examples of past “Stealing The Covers” graphics:
Tracy Chapman’s self-titled album
“Synchronicity” by The Police
“The Joshua Tree” by U2
Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill”

CDs For Sale!
February 13, 2008
For the many masses out there who have been begging us, “Please Jackie & Jason! Where can we buy one of your CDs?” Well fret no more. We’re working on a CD of us performing together, but in the meantime, we have oodles of recordings from our previous solo careers that are just dying to find a good home. And in a bold new pricing experiment, we are simply putting them out there and saying, “Pay whatever you think it’s worth.” We’re not the first to try it, but we thought it was a cool idea. You’ll see them on display at our performances — if you want one, just take it and put an offering of your choice in the tip jar. It is said your luck (or at least your music collection) will multiply and prosper.
